Accessibility Statement
Barbour.com is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users, including people with disabilities. We have partnered with accessibility consultancy ReciteMe who has conducted a comprehensive audit of our website, from which remediation and verification has been completed. We are actively working to improve the accessibility and usability of our website and aim to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards.
This statement was prepared on 13/10/2026 and will be reviewed again on 12/01/2027
Audit Description
The audit was conducted using both automated and manual testing methods:
- Automated tools: Automated tools: Recite Me Checker, Axe, and WAVE
- Manual testing: Screen readers (VoiceOver on macOS and NVDA on Windows) on Chrome and Firefox
The audit was carried out by members of Recite Me, our digital accessibility consultancy team.
Non-Accessible Areas
This website is partially compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliance(s) listed below:
- Some images have alternative text which does not accurately reflect the image content, or the image’s purpose where that image is included as a page link. We are working to rectify this.
- We use a third-party system for drawing customer content from Instagram to showcase on our website. There are known accessibility issues with this feed such as incorrectly marked up text content, unnecessarily long screen reader announcements for interactive elements and inactive controls lacking sufficient identification for screen reader users to determine this state.
- We use a third-party system for drawing customer review content onto our website. This system has known issues regarding the markup it generates for our site. These issues include non-interactive elements drawing keyboard focus despite performing no task, and text content not reflowing to suit small screen sizes and adjusted text spacing without leading to clipped text.
- Size charts on product detail pages are presented in tabular format. Some of these table cells contain no data.
- Some text content on pages is split between multiple elements of the same type even when the content continues between them.
- Some pages lack a primary heading 1 that accurately titles the page’s content.
Method of Evaluation
The audit followed the WCAG 2.2 AA guidelines and uses the WCAG Evaluation Methodology. It included a representative sample of user journeys, forms, modals, and interactive elements.
