North East Dog Festival: Barbour People
AUTUMN WINTER 2024
This month, the Barbour Dogs team visited The North East Dog Festival, the pawfect place to enjoy the outdoors with your four-legged friends. The festival was a fun-packed day out, with dogs and their humans proudly sporting their favourite Barbour gear.
From energetic whippets to retrievers, we spotted many furry friends looking their best in Barbour's signature style. From waterproof coats to tartan harnesses, we chatted with dog owners about their favourite outdoor endeavours, the stories behind their Barbour attire, and how they prepared for the big day.
The festival was full of action-packed activities, from dog agility displays, trick training, flyball and parkour. With delicious food and local charities showcasing their community spirit, there was something for everyone. Read on below to find out more.
We spotted festival goers sporting an array of Barbour favourites, from the classic wax jackets and crew neckline T-shirts to timeless cardigans and casual caps. Including Leah, who caught our eye with her four lively dogs. Leah was wearing her trusty Barbour Beadnell Wax jacket, a staple she has owned for over five years and accompanied her on many muddy dog walks.

During our visit, we met Katie and Rich with their whippet. Katie was wearing the mariner striped cardigan while Mitch kept it casual in his Cascade Sports cap. Their pup, still catching his breath after competing in an agility race. Throughout the event, we loved seeing Leah, Katie, Mitch and the rest of the Barbour community introducing us to their companion and how their Barbour pieces helped prepare them for the festival fun.
The North East Dog Festival is a celebration of everything canine, a day of activities for the entire family (including four-legged companions) and most importantly, providing education on responsible pet ownership. During the festival, there were opportunities to be informed on a range of topics including the importance of dogs donating blood, what it means to have a reactive dog and keeping kids safe around dogs.
Meanwhile, for the foodies, there was an array of choices, with everything from delicious Greek gyros to dinky donuts. Ensuring no one went hungry, the dogs were treated to their own range of gourmet treats during the active day.
The North East Dog Festival had truly been a day to remember, leaving everyone with full hearts, tired legs and wagging tails.
