Barbour Dogs Adventures

From lazy mornings under the duvet to long walks across the downs, this is the Barbour way of life.

As part of our Barbour Dogs Adventure series, we’re sharing a glimpse into the wagnificent lives of our beloved #BarbourDogs. This month, we’re delighted to introduce Moss and Mylo, two blue whippet brothers living just outside the stunning South Downs National Park.

3 year old Moss is the definition of chilled. A cozy connoisseur, he can usually be found tucked under a blanket (especially on rainy days!) but never turns down a good walk across the downs. His little brother, 1 year old Mylo, is full of beans and big feelings. Always the drama king, he’s known for his late-morning lie-ins, toy obsessions, and high-speed house zoomies.

Despite their different energies, these two share more than just their mum. They both have matching white spots on the backs of their necks, a deep love for beach runs, and a surprising fascination with the Teletubbies.

List your top three dog-friendly sites to visit and your favourite thing about visiting.

West Wittering: West Wittering is our favourite weekend adventures, and one of the reasons we love it so much is that it has dedicated dog-friendly sections open all year round. It means the boys can enjoy the beach no matter the season. Whether it’s sprinting across the sand or splashing through the shallows there’s plenty of space for off-lead zoomies, ball games, and a proper paddle.

Southease: A quieter spot nestled in the South Downs, Southease is perfect for evening walks. The route follows the River Ouse, with panoramic views of the South Downs and an abundance of wildlife to spot along the way. It’s peaceful and never too busy, ideal for a slow, scenic walk.

Seven Sisters Country Park: This place has it all. Rolling chalk cliffs, winding rivers, wide open spaces, and the quiet pebble beach at Cuckmere Haven where the boys love to have a splash. It’s one of our favourite spots for a proper stretch of the legs, and perfect when we want a longer, peaceful walk with plenty of fresh air and space to roam.

Walk us through your paw-fect ‘spoil your pooch day!’

A ‘paw-fect’ day for us starts slow, usually with the dogs still snoozing in our bed. After a relaxed morning, we’ll grab a hot drink from Gail’s in Lewes and catch a train to either Glynde, Southease or Seaford, then walk back over the Downs.

When in Glynde, we always make sure we visit the local tea rooms for a slice of homemade cake and cup of tea. The walks are peaceful, with plenty of space for the boys to explore and stretch their legs.

Evenings are all about winding down. Film on. Dogs under a blanket. Everyone settled.

Our top tips for a good day out with dogs:

· Weather matters. Whippets hate the cold and rain, so we never leave the house without coats or jumpers if the weather’s looking rough.

· Always bring treats. They really help with recall training, and distractions, especially when the boys get each other overexcited – which is almost always the case.

· Keep water handy. We always carry a travel bowl and a flask of water, especially in warmer months.

· Pack something for them to rest on. A folding bed or blanket means the dogs can settle easily if we stop at one of the many local dog-friendly pubs or cafés.

Barbour Dogs Essentials

Which Barbour Dogs products are essential for an adventure-filled day?

We’ve tried a fair few dog accessories over the years, but the Barbour range has become a firm favourite for both us and the boys. The Barbour leads are a ‘must have’ of ours due to their strength, durability and comfort, which really matters when you’ve got two excitable whippets at the other end.

The Barbour blanket is another essential, it comes with us on most outings. Perfect for taking to the pub, laying in the boot of the car, or giving the dogs somewhere cosy to settle when we’re out and about. At home, it’s usually sprawled across the sofa, with one or both whippets curled up underneath.

The boys are also huge fans of their Barbour toys. They each have a favourite and will often fall asleep cuddled up to them. It’s one of those small things that makes a big difference for them after a long day out walking.
