Barbour Dogs Adventures

From slow mornings in bed to sandy sniffs on the beach, this is the Barbour way of life.

As part of our Barbour Dogs Adventure series, we’re sharing a glimpse into the wagnificent lives of our beloved #BarbourDogs. This month, we’re delighted to introduce Frank, a dapper daschund who calls Surrey home, but can be found adventuring here there and everywhere!

Hello! I’m Frank - a (nearly) five year old dachshund with a big personality packed into a little sausage body. I was born in Norfolk and now live in Surrey with my two humans. I love going on adventures, from the local park to visiting Granny in Scotland, even hopping on the Eurostar to explore France!

I‘m not a fan of cold or rain – if I spot or sniff raindrops I’ll happily retreat to my bed and cross my paws until it passes. Sleeping is my second favourite thing in the world. My number one? Eating! I adore chicken, blueberries, carrot and apples – basically if its tasty and crunchy I’m all in.

List your top three dog-friendly sites/trails to visit and your favourite thing about visiting.

Painshill Park, Cobham

Our favourite local adventure spot is Painshill Park. There are endless routes to explore, so no two walks are ever the same and every turn reveals another breathtaking view. The lake is beautiful, but the crystal grotto is the real gem in the crown. My humans love the ice-cream , and I can even get a doggy version. Definitely gets our paw of approval!

Camber Sands

A little further afield, we’re huge fans of Camber Sands. The beach is vast and covered in glorious white sand. You climb up through the dunes, and as soon as you see the sea, the view is spectacular.  The endless dunes are perfect for hiding my ball - keeps the humans on their toes! Nothing beats the feeling of a sandy snoot.

Margate

Margate is another favourite of ours. The whole town is wonderfully dog-friendly, full of cosy coffee shops, tasty fish ‘n chip spots and winding lanes to explore. The beach is sandy and the tidal pool is incredible - we’ve watched many a stunning sunset there. We especially love Fort Road Hotel which welcomes pooches.

Walk us through your paw-fect ‘spoil your pooch day!’

My pawfect day would start with a long lie in, then I’d have breakfast and ideally have another snooze with my snoot in the sun. Mid-morning we’d hop in the car and head to Hyde Park for a walk around the Serpentine. We love seeing the roller bladers, meeting other sausages and finding new routes. At that point we’d head to Love My Human Doggy Café on Kings Road for a pup cup sprinkled with acai berries. We’ve been going there for many years and woof it so much. I’d have sweet dreams on the drive home with my Barbour bunny and then bury myself in blankets when I got home. Fun fact: when I was a puppy I’d howl like a wolf every time I got in the car.

To make sure all goes without hitch, the humans should be prepared. Towels are an essential, when your tummy is so close to the ground getting dirty and wet happens lots in the UK. Always have enough treatos packed, water, blankets, and clothes for all weather. I don’t travel light!

Which Barbour Dogs products are essential for an adventure-filled day?

Our favourite Barbour goodies are definitely clothes. I don’t like being cold, so the fleecy teddy jumper is a firm favourite – I even wear it when I’m chilling at home. My humans love their Barbour wax jackets, so it’s extra special that we can all match when I wear mine.

We can’t wait for crisp autumn walkies with the sun shining and my gorgeous wax jacket buttoned up. We always keep a Barbour toy in the car too – perfect for a snuggle on the drive home after a big day out.
