The Making of the Durham Jacket
Cut from flyweight 4oz waxed Egyptian cotton and weighing a mere 27 ounces, it was built for long days spent fishing the banks, stalking through cover, birdwatching at first light, or walking until the weather turned. Its distinctive caped double shoulders shed rain and spray with ease, while adjustable cuffs, hood and waist drawcord allowed it to be shaped against the elements. An attached hood, storm-proof ring-zip with press studs, generous bellows pockets, ventilation eyelets and carefully bound seams spoke of a jacket designed not for show, but for service.
