Back in 2012 we created a limited edition jacket with Wood Wood for their 10th anniversary, and this autumn/winter we have joined forces again with a full collection of menswear to celebrate 15 years of the Danish contemporary fashion brand and our shared heritage.
The collection this season not only features jackets, but sweats, shirts and accessories which mix the practicality, fitness for purpose and durability we are known for with the modern design aesthetic that Wood Wood champions. Our classic Barbour pieces are given the Wood Wood treatment, creating a capsule of collectable pieces.
Named after the a lighthouse on the North East coastline, only a stone’s throw from Barbour’s Headquarters in South Shields, the Souter Wax Jacket is a key piece updated by Wood Wood, making a feature of Barbour’s iconic ring-pull zipper.
“This is a really exciting capsule collection that skilfully brings together Barbour’s iconic designs with Wood Wood’s Scandinavian design style. The use of pop colours on the linings and exposed zips make this a very distinctive collection for us, whilst still retaining the technical detail, durability and fitness for purpose that Barbour is known for.” - Ian Bergin, Director of Menswear & Accessories, Barbour.
The Kilde and the Amager jackets feature nautical blue and buoy orange pops of colour on the linings and the zips are a nod towards the maritime influence that is a constant source of inspiration for both brands. Barbour being based close to the River Tyne and the North Sea, and Wood Wood being headquartered in Copenhagen, an old harbour and maritime city and the location for the collection shoot.
“We’re happy to be working with Barbour again, building on our mutual appreciation of good design, combining modernity with tradition in a collection that I believe speaks to followers of both brands.” - Wood Wood’s Co-Founder, Brian SS Jensen, commented.
Clothing includes the playful graphics that Wood Wood is known for, with trademark logo tees and sweats in pops of blue and pink. The main graphic features the Barbour logo with the B tilted – a reference to 55th parallel north, the circle of latitude where the offices of both brands are located.
