SS17 Beachcomber Collection

Discover a collection inspired by the beauty of the North East Coast as we profile coastal photo-montage artist Claire Gill.

May 2nd 2017
The SS17 Beachcomber collection takes its inspiration from the beautiful and dramatic North East coastline and natural life that can be found around the seashore.
Printed tees and sweats celebrating our local seagulls and puffins and check shirts inspired by hues of shells found on the Northumbrian coastal beaches, celebrating the best of summer shades in soft, feminine silhouettes form the heart of the collection.
A new Beacon stripe jacket lining takes its inspiration from the South Shields Beacon, an important part of Barbour’s heritage, which has stood proudly at the mouth of the River Tyne since 1882 welcoming generations of mariners into South Shields harbour.
In the SS17 campaign we reveal the powerful, emotional connection people have with the sea by following the story of artist, Claire Gill, who left the city to find meaning by the coast.
Follow our blog series on Claire Gill, as we find out about her move from the city to the coast, the techniques she uses in her art as we dive deeper into her coastal influences.
