Dog Friendly Days Out this October across the North East
AUTUMN WINTER 2023
Autumn has officially arrived! The leaves are falling and the weather is turning. These Dog friendly days out will ensure an adventure filled October in the great outdoors (including some indoor events as we know how unpredictable and wet the British weather can be come these Winter months). Here is a wealth of woof-tastic days out, trails and activities in the North East region for you and your furry companions to enjoy.




Seaham Harbour
Seaham Harbour in County Durham is home to a fantastic range of cafes, restaurants and shops and a fascinating heritage centre. Take a relaxing, leisurely stroll along Seaham’s pleasant 1 mile stretch of rocky and sandy beach, the pawfect activity for those pooches that love a dip in the water and the sea breeze in their hair.
Sunderland Festival of Light
A stunning light projection is set to brighten the nights of Sunderland this Autumn. Expect dazzling lighting features, delicious food and drink and exciting street theatre. This event takes place October 12th through to 11th November at Mowbray Park, with dogs welcome to attend. This is an autumn must go and we are certain your furry friends will agree!


Broom House Farm and Forest Adventure
Broom House Farm and Forest Adventure, situated in Durham offers an action packed fun family day out, with numerous nature trails, farmyard animals and woodland challenges including zipwires, slides and tunnels. Enjoy amazing food at their on-site farm shop, tearoom and picnic area, plenty of choices for lunch time! Furry friends are welcomed, as long as they remain on a lead and on their best behaviour, no being cheeky!
Barter Books Book Store
Barter Books is one of the second largest bookstores in Europe. This treasure trove is situated in the historic English market town of Alnwick, Northumberland, inside the Victorian Alnwick railway station. After a day of exploring, Barter Books store is a great final destination to unwind and conclude your adventure-filled day. Admire their large art murals and colourful bookish décor. Snuggle up in their cosy seats, with a luxurious hot chocolate by the roaring fire nestled inside, the perfect place for a snoozing pup.




Trick or TREAT…Spooky season is looming and here are some adventure-packed Halloween inspired trails and activities you and your doggies can take part in:
‘The Wizards of Once Halloween Quest’ at Belsay Hall
This Belsay Hall event will guarantee you a bewitchingly brilliant day out. Enjoy the amazing heritage within Belsay Hall, with dog’s welcome to explore all the outdoor space and join along the festive trail. Bolam Lake is also nearby if you fancy an additional adventure and a quick paddle for your pooch. Afterwards relax and reenergise in one of the many dog-friendly pubs in Ponteland.
Berwick Museum Bat Trail
This trail is located in a town located on the border between England and Scotland, Berwick-Upon-Tweed. The mission of the trail: Collect a trail sheet and count how many bats you discover along the way, if your observant enough to spot them all, you will be rewarded with a small treat! This trail is one of the few that welcome dogs indoors, the perfect activity for those rainy days.
Eastfield Farm at Tickhill, Doncaster
Throughout October Eastfield Farm in Doncaster are open for pumpkin picking. Select your perfectly shaped pumpkin straight from its roots, to carve and display this Halloween. Dogs are welcome to explore the pumpkin patches and assist in the picking process.
Sherwood Pines ‘Bark in the dark’ event
Step into the magic with Bark in the Dark, taking place the 22nd of October. Bark in the Dark is a 5km forest trail through an ancient and magical woodland. This event includes competitions such as a fancy-dress contest for young walkers, with the opportunity to win a family pass to Alton towers. Get your pooch involved in the fun with a ‘do a trick and win a treat’ competition. In addition, the proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated towards the work of Blue Cross, helping vulnerable animals receive the treatment, care and love they deserve. An amazing reason to attend this event!
