We recently caught up with fashion and lifestyle blogger, Reem Kanj, to discuss where she finds her creative inspiration and why she thinks motorcycle style is so often adopted by people who love fashion.

We took some time to catch up with fashion and lifestyle blogger, Reem Kanj, to find out more about her blog FiveFiveFabulous that she shares with her sister, and how she uses style to showcase her individuality.

You’ve travelled and lived all over the world. How have your experiences shaped who you are as a person?
I feel so blessed to have been able to experience so many different cultures and people as a child. It gave me such a broad sense of the world, and how much more of it there was to experience. A fast moving and ever changing childhood definitely added to my ambition to be successful in business. It helped me stay on my toes and always expect more from life.

You share your blog, FiveFiveFabulous with your sister. What’s it like working together on a creative project with a sibling?
It was definitely challenging to start with. We had to spend a lot of time figuring out each other's work rhythms, but I'm so pleased to say that we got there in the end, and now, I couldn't imagine doing it without her.

What has been your biggest success and your biggest challenge in your career so far?
One of the biggest challenges I've faced is battling self-doubt. Sometimes, our goals and dreams can seem farfetched to everyone else, even ourselves so it's about always pushing yourself to at the very least try and achieve them, rather than cave into the challenge. There's always another level to achieve or an obstacle to overcome but I'm just loving the journey.

Where do you find your creative inspiration?
From my travels. I love to meet new people and hear their stories. Travel is also a great motivator! I want to see the whole world and I can only achieve that goal if I work hard enough to get there.

Barbour International is all about independence, how do you use style to showcase your individuality?
I feel like I express my individuality by dressing completely and utterly for myself. My comfort always comes first, regardless of anything and when I'm happy and comfortable in my style, my confidence comes out, which is a huge nod to my independence.

You shot your pictures in Shoreditch in London. How does the city influence your style?
London is one of my favourite cities in the world, and where I feel so happy to call home. Shoreditch is where I spend the most time. I love it here, it's unapologetic, gritty, booming in business and so cool. It's the area of London I feel my personal style fits the most, and it's definitely influenced my style throughout the years.

Describe your perfect day in London and Dubai, where your sister lives.
In London, it would start with a session at the gym, I love getting it out of the way right at the beginning of the day. A good few productive hours spent at my desk in my home office, followed by a delicious lunch at my all-time favourite restaurant, Dishoom and a coffee to go on the way home from one of my favourite boutique's/ café's, Modern Society.

In Dubai, again Natalya and I would probably aim to get the gym out of the way first, before heading to our parent's place for a healthy breakfast or brunch courtesy of our very good cook/mum. We'd most likely have a full day of back to back meetings in Dubai Design District with lunches and dinners planned at some of our favourite restaurants such as Coya or Nusret. If it's the weekend, we'd definitely be at the beach and getting a fix of our favourite cheat meal at SALT.

Barbour International has its roots in motorcycle clothing, why do you think motorcycle style is so often adopted by people who love fashion?
Because it's just so effortlessly cool - I think there's something about leather, denim and slouchy tee's that make you feel like you can conquer anything.

What is your favourite item of clothing in the Barbour International womenswear collection and why?
I love the striped tee I'm wearing in this feature. It's the perfect cut and can be worn dressed up with a leather skirt and boots, or down with denim and sneakers.
