Up next for the latest instalment of our Barbour International Sessions is Tom Grennan, who will be playing live from our Piccadilly store on Sunday 14th April at 8pm. You can watch it live, exclusively on our Barbour International Facebook page.
Tom found fame when he featured as guest vocals on Chase and Status track 'When it All Goes Wrong', and is now going from strength to strength ahead of his debut album. Find out more about what music to expect for those tuning in on Sunday, and what Tom looks forward to about playing live…
What kind of music can those tuning in to the #BarbourIntSession on Sunday expect from you if they are not familiar with your sound already?
Soulful and slightly jazzy, influenced by rock n' roll pop music. I also have a tendency to lean towards grime. The Sketches of Spain by Miles Davis makes the hairs on my neck stand up, but I'm still a massive channel U fan!
Who or what inspired you to pursue a career in music?
I don't think anyone inspired me to pursue a music career because it happened so randomly, I'd say I enjoyed doing it and I made the decision that I wanted to do this for real!
Music and style have always been associated with one another, how do you use clothing to project you musical persona?
I haven't really thought about that but I try and be as creative as I can with what I wear. Some days I just wear what's comfy and rock it!
Who is on your playlist at the moment that you just can’t stop listening to?
Right now, I can't stop listening to Francis and the Lights.
You have just released your second EP ‘Release the Breaks’ – is there a change in sound or style from your first EP ‘Something in the Water’?
Definitely, the same rawness is there but the second EP has a lot more production, whereas Something in the Water was more acoustic.
What exclusive news can you give us – is there a new single/album coming out or a festival you are playing this summer you are especially excited about?
I'm so excited about Reading and Leeds Festivals - they're ones I used to go to when I was younger and I never thought I'd be playing at them.
Tom wore our B.Intl Endo V-Neck Zip Through Jumper.
You are about to go on a nationwide tour - performing live requires confidence, particularly as a solo artist – how do you prepare for playing live?
I just try to go into every show confident, in the knowledge I’m doing something I love!
You will be performing live on the Barbour International Facebook page on Sunday, what do you look forward to about playing live?
Performing live is always different, but I'm excited to meet everyone at Barbour International and have a great show!
