Barbour Wax for Life

Circularity

We’re committed to making quality products that stand the test of time. For over 100 years, we've been providing bespoke services that help our customers extend the life of their Barbour products.

We have a growing number of schemes to help keep Barbour items in use.

Wax for Life

Initiatives under our Wax for Life programme help customers extend the life of their waxed jackets.

Barbour Repair & Re-Wax

Repair & Re-Wax

Through Wax for Life, Barbour offers a unique re-waxing and repair service for its iconic waxed jackets. First introduced in 1921, today, we re-wax or repair over 79,000 jackets globally each year. Additionally, over 100,000 tins of wax are bought by customers who prefer to re-wax their jackets themselves and our helpful “How to” guide provides useful guidance.

Barbour Re-Loved Waxed Jacket

Barbour Re-Loved

Under Barbour’s Re-Loved scheme, customers can return their waxed jackets that they no longer need in exchange for a voucher. Each jacket is assessed by Barbour’s expert team to give it a new life as a cleaned and repaired unique jacket or a new bespoke Barbour creation such as bags or picnic blankets. To date, we have re-loved over 1000 waxed jackets. This included a partnership with Oxfam at Glastonbury which raised vital funds for the charity.

Quilt for Life

Launched in the UK, our new Quilt for Life scheme offers cleaning and repair options for our quilted jackets. Work is underway to expand this scheme into additional global markets and to explore Re-Loved quilted jacket options too.

Quilt for Life Programme

In October 2024, Barbour introduced a new Quilt for Life scheme enabling cleaning and repairs to be carried out on Barbour quilted jackets. Our skilled factory team in South Shields can repair rips and tears and replace zips and studs helping customers to extend the life of their well-worn quilted favourites.

Further Enabling Circularity

Keeping our products in use for as long as possible is a key aspect of circularity, but we are working on other aspects of circular fashion too, including seeking to increase the proportion of recycled materials used in our products.

International circularity experts circular.fashion have supported our design teams in exploring further opportunities to enhance the circularity of our products. This included a workshop, delivered by the circular.fashion team, which guided our designers through the different design phases and used a Circular Fashion Toolkit to explore solutions that would enhance circularity.
