The Great British Countryside: Our Top Five for SS20

Our hearts have always belonged to the Great British countryside and over the years we’ve made our way through some of the most beautiful rolling landscapes in our on-going mission to get back to nature and enjoy the slower pace of life. There’s nothing we love more than throwing on our jackets, gathering family and friends, and heading out for a long, leisurely weekend exploring the great outdoors. So, we’ve put together some of our all-time favourite rural hotspots to give you a little inspiration for your next epic wander, including the stunning landscapes we used as a backdrop for our SS20 Modern Country campaign.

The Lake District

Situated in the north-west corner of England lies the country’s largest national park, known as the Lake District. With the highest mountains, tallest trees and deepest lake, it is undeniably impressive from all angles. Whether it’s covered in snow or flooded with sunlight, it is a true natural wonder; the perfect place whether you’re chartering a course for an epic hike or taking in the scenery at your own pace.

The New Forest

With free-roaming wildlife, winding country roads and a patchwork landscape of earth-toned glades, the New Forest is a unique and magical part of the world. Where else could you walk among the famous New Forest ponies, cattle, donkeys and deer before settling into one of its many charming pubs for a little forest respite? Standing in its ancient woods and trekking the vast open moors, you could easily mistake it for a scene in a drama set in the Middle Ages. So, if olde-worlde adventures and breath-taking long walks are your thing, then the New Forest is a must on your bucket list.

Isle of Skye

Planted in the Highlands of bonny Scotland lies the unmatchable Isle of Skye — 50 miles of jaw-droppingly stunning scenery that will make an impression that lasts forever. Home to some of the most enchanting natural wonders, such as the Fairy Pools and epic ancient castles that look as though they have emerged from a fairy-tale, the Isle of Skye is not short on charm.

South Downs

A stone’s throw from the Brighton & Hove seaside lies 1600km of rich, green countryside, otherwise known as South Downs National Park. With rolling hills, flourishing vineyards and plenty of hidden gems, this luscious expanse has plenty to explore. Once your feet have had enough, you can put them up in one of the gorgeous local haunts hiding between the hills in their bustle market towns. One of the absolute must-sees in this picture-perfect spot is the Seven Sisters, especially on a sunny day where the light illuminates the chalky white cliff face.

The Purbecks

Known as the Isle of Purbeck, this sixty square mile area offers heaps of contrasts, from the rip-roaring dramatic coastline to the lustrous rolling hills and rare heathland. Despite being known as the Isle, this stunning part of the world is actually not an island, but rather a peninsula bordered by water on three sides. With majestic views of spacious farmland and the dazzling water in the background, it was the perfect place for us to join Lauren Yates and Brittany Bathgate to get back to nature and find out how they dress for the outdoors and how they style our Modern Country SS20 collection.
