B.Intl X Engineered Garments AW21
For the first time, Barbour International has collaborated with New York-based contemporary fashion label, Engineered Garments. With outerwear focusing on the iconic waxed jackets synonymous with Barbour International, Engineered Garments has reinvented the classic styles with a Japanese aesthetic.
A black wax gilet and wax trousers create interest throughout the collection, with tees to complement the outerwear, seamlessly blending both UK and US motorcycle styles with ease. Discover more about the collaboration below in our Q&A with Engineered Garments founder Daiki Suzuki.
This is the first time Barbour International and Engineered Garments have collaborated. Can you tell us what you hoped to achieve by combining these two brands?
The first Barbour jacket I got was the international jacket and I’ve loved it ever since so I’m so excited to work on this and hoped to give more American motorcycle designs and details into the project.
How did you blend Barbour International’s rich motorcycling heritage, with Engineered Garments’ contemporary engineering?
Kept the International jacket signature details and combined them with American motorcycle designs and Barbour original UK style to make them look more interesting.
What about these two brand styles makes them work so well together?
I believe Barbour and Engineered Garments stand on very similar elements and make great synergy together.
What was the main inspiration behind the AW21 B.Intl X Engineered Garments collection?
UK motorcycle style combined with US motorcycle style.
What makes this collection great for the autumn-winter season?
You can wear them by themselves or you can wear them under blazers or long coats too.
What is your favourite piece in the collection, and why?
Lincoln Wax jacket. I always love the short length jacket.
The jackets in this collection are full of detail. Why are the product details so important?
All the details are actually created for what they needed back then. It’s more functional than just the design and that’s what I liked about it.
How do you envision the collection being worn?
For people who love Barbour to find something new to wear. For people who love Engineered Garments to find this collection easy to wear with other Engineered Garments items.
