This April will see the opening of our second Barbour International store at Canary Wharf, London, inspired by Barbour’s long and rich motorcycle heritage.
Motorcycle clothing has always been an important part of Barbour’s history. First introduced by Duncan Barbour, the third generation of the family and himself a keen motorcyclist, Barbour International motorcycle suits were worn by nearly every British international motorcycle team from 1936 to 1977. They were worn in other areas of motorcycle sport too: by army motorcycle display teams and by the patrolmen of 14 different police forces. The iconic Barbour International jacket with its distinctive diagonal left chest pocket, originally designed for holding maps, provides the source and inspiration for today’s modern International collection.
