On Thursday 9th October, we launched our exciting new Barbour watch collection in partnership with Zeon ltd. Press gathered at the launch held at the Barbour Covent Garden store, which showcased the unique range of both men’s and women’s watches from our Barbour and Barbour International collections. The collection has been met with initially high praise – with some members of the press commenting that it was a natural progression for Barbour.
The range of timepieces, appropriately named ‘Barbour Time’ take inspiration from Barbour’s vast 120 year history of high quality and traditional products, fused with elements of classic British style.
The Barbour collection is based largely on the traditional countryside heritage of the brand – with emphasis on traditional leathers and the famous Barbour Tartan. The watches embody functionality and sophistication: two elements that have been key to the Barbour brand over the last 120 years. The Glysdale watch even incorporates the Beacon logo – used by Barbour for many years as a symbol of our hometown: South Shields.
The Barbour International collection explores the rich motorcycle heritage of the brand, which dates back to 1936 – when Barbour first began producing motorcycling jackets. Hand-stitched padded straps that are reminiscent of riding leather are amongst many detailed features that pay tribute to the bold biker style that is the essence of Barbour International. The Fowler watch for example, features an industrial case inspired by the headlights of vintage motorcycles, a dial based on vintage speedometers and soft leather straps that make this watch effortlessly wearable.
