Favourite Boxing Day Walks as chosen by The Snowdog™

To celebrate a traditional #BarbourChristmas, we teamed up with the Snowman and Snowdog™ to uncover the best and most beautiful places to walk your dog on Boxing Day.

Date
December 22nd 2016

We can’t think of a more wonderful time to walk your dog, than the day after Christmas – when you’re still feeling full from your indulgent festive dinner, and the magic of #BarbourChristmas is still in the air. Who better to tell you where the best places are for some scenic dog walking, than The Snowdog™ himself?

The Snowman and Snowdog™ know an idyllic spot no matter where you live, so grab your new Barbour wax jacket, pop on a pair of thick, warm gloves, and discover somewhere beautiful with your canine this Boxing Day…

1.      Lochan Uaine, Glenmore Forest, Scotland

A beautiful walk amongst ancient Caledonian pines will lead you and your pooch to the magical Lochan Uaine. From there, the whole family can embark on a gentle climb up the Ryvoan pass, before heading back to capture the stunning views of Loch Morlich and Cairngorm.

2.      The Doone Valley, North Devon

Bring your pooch on a breathtaking five-and-a-half-mile circular walk around the Doone Valley. Trek for hours across frosty moorland and be sure to pay a visit to the Blue Ball, a dog-friendly pub in Malmshead for a warming, mulled cider along the way.

3.      Stonebarrow Hill and Golden Cap, Dorset

Enjoy a festive walk around Golden Cap estate, lying within the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Made up of rolling hills and fields, sunken lanes, ancient hedgerows and dramatic coastline, this is a guaranteed treat for both you and your four-legged friend.

4.      Pen y Fan, Wales

The wintery vista from the highest peak in the Brecon Beacons National Park is so impressive, you and your pooch will want to return again and again. It’s the perfect place for the whole family to grab a sledge and slide down the hills this Christmas. Oh, and make sure you capture a few shots of Snowdonia on your way!

5.      Portmarnock Beach, Ireland

Wake yourself up with the fresh Portmarnock Beach breeze on Boxing Day morning – a long stretch offering a fun-filled adventure for you and your dog. The dunes on the landward side offer a fun obstacle course for your pooch as you twist and turn to reach the end of the beach.
