- January 24th 2017
Celebrating the launch of our B.Intl Facebook, we’ve teamed up with Coney’s Loft to bring you a series of mini gigs streamed on Facebook Live. Earlier this week we saw singer-songwriter, Ren Harvieu, perform live from our Piccadilly store.
Continuing our live sessions, we had the opportunity to chat to Helen Hamill, from North East band, Cattle & Cane, who will be performing live on our B.Intl Facebook page on Wednesday 25th January at 8pm.
We discussed her musical influences and what 2017 has in store for Cattle & Cane.
Like Barbour, Cattle & Cane are based in the North East. Do you think the North has a particular style that characterises it?
Sometimes when people think of the North, they focus on the industrial and they maybe don’t think of the outdoors with our beautiful coastline and countryside. I think up here in the North East, we manage to merge them together with our style - whether you’re out in the city, or up on the Cleveland Hills!
Who has influenced you musically and stylistically? What is your favourite era for fashion?
My favourite era is the 60s - I love Brigitte Bardot, Pattie Boyd, Jane Birkin, the Supremes and anyone that wore their hair big and skirts short! They look so glamorous, yet effortless. Musically, I've always been a big fan of Fleetwood Mac and The Beatles.

What are your favourite pieces from the Barbour International collection and why?
I love the B.Intl Absorber Quilted Parka, it's timeless! I love anything that is comfortable but looks glam at the same time. The B.Intl Eiko Jumper too. I love a chunky navy knit, especially in these winter months!
What are you currently listening to?
The Beatles, Jeff Lynne, Andrew Gold, Sufjan Stevens, Steely Dan, The Swell Season, Alexi Murdoch, Nick Cave and Laurel.
What does 2017 have in store for Cattle & Cane?
We're releasing our new album ‘Mirrors’ in Spring and we'll be doing lots of shows around the release of that. We're really excited to share what we've been working on for so long!
