Terms and Conditions


The Barbour Summer competition will run from Thursday 3rd July 2014 at 10:00am GMT until Wednesday 23th July at 11:59pm GMT.

Who can enter?
This draw is open to everyone over 18 years old at the time of entry, excluding employees or agents of Barbour or anyone professionally connected with the promotion and their immediate families.

How to enter
There are two ways to enter the competition; by replying to one of our competition posts on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram channels, or using the hashtag #BarbourSummer alongside your entry on Twitter, or Instagram.
Entries must include an answer to the question, using the media format requested in the question to be valid, which may be text, image, or video.
Entrants can enter multiple times with different entries.
If submitting a photograph or video, the person submitting the photo or video must have taken it and own the copyright in the photograph.
Before submitting a photo or video, you must ensure you have the consent of all people who appear and they understand it may inspire an illustration or animation that may appear on a Barbour product, Barbour social channels, and possibly www.Barbour.com.
By submitting a photo or video you are consenting to Barbour using such imagery and words in the future for marketing and promotional purposes. Barbour will have the right to use, copy, edit, add to and publish in a public forum your submitted photo or video (in whole or in part) on a royalty-free basis as well as incorporating these photos into other works in any technology format (whether existing or later developed). Barbour will always comply with the Data Protection Act 1998 in processing your data and will use your personal information in accordance with Barbour’s privacy policy.

The prizes
By methods of Entry
Replying to Posts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
Entrants must visit facebook.com/officialbarbour, or twitter.com/barbour, or instagram.com/barbour, find the most recent competition post from Barbour, and enter by replying to that post.
Entering via #BarbourSummer hashtag on Twitter and Instagram
Entrants can submit text, a photo or video via Twitter, or Instagram by including the hashtag #BarbourSummer in their comment.
Please be aware that Barbour is under no obligation to use an answer, photo, or video in the resulting illustrations and animation and retains all discretion in doing so. Please do not contact Barbour to ask why a submitted answer, photo or video has not been uploaded. We hope that you will not be disappointed but we can only publish a limited number of entries.
By submitting an answer, or photo, or video you are entering to win a bespoke illustration from Barbour. Your illustration may then be animated to feature in the Barbour Summer Video, and may also inspire an illustration on a limited edition Barbour Summer T Shirt that you will receive.
The winners will receive a digital copy of the illustration. This will be sent to them directly via the social network they used to enter the competition.
On Facebook, the illustration will be posted as a photo reply to the competition thread. On Twitter and Instagram, the illustration will be posted publicly as a tweet, @ mentioning the entrant’s twitter or instagram handle.
Entrants will be able to view the Barbour Summer Video via our social channels at the end of the campaign.
The limited edition Barbour Summer T shirt will be posted directly to the winners at the end of the campaign. The style and size of the T Shirt will be decided by Barbour. Whilst every effort made to deliver an appropriately sized T Shirt to the winners, we cannot guarantee this.
By taking part in the competition the winner consents to Barbour using your name, the content of your entry (answer, photo, video), and the resulting illustrations and animations in full for an unlimited time, in digital and in print. Barbour will have the right to use, copy, edit, add to and publish in a public forum all written words, illustrations, or video (in whole or in part) on a royalty-free basis.
All prizes are subject to availability. The prize is non-transferable, non-refundable and there is no cash alternative.
In the unlikely event that the prize should become unavailable Barbour reserves the right to substitute for a prize of equal or greater value.

Selecting winners
All entries submitted from the competition launch date will be collated on a daily basis during the campaign period, and the winners will be selected by the Barbour marketing team. The odds of winning are dependent on the number of entries received.
Answers, Photos, and videos will be judged on creativity, how well they reflect the Barbour brand and family values, and how well suited they are to being turned into illustrations and animations.
The winners will be selected and notified within the networks they chose to enter through.
Barbour will contact the winners via Twitter and Instagram by following them and @mentioning and Direct Messaging them.
Barbour will contact the winners for entries via Facebook by @mentioning them in a reply to the thread, and subsequently will request that the winner privately direct message @Barbour their email address through Barbour’s Facebook page.
At the end of the competition, Barbour will need the postal address and size details of the winner, in order to send them the limited edition Barbour Summer T Shirt.
If Barbour do not hear back from the winner within 1 week of the end of the competition, the prize will be forfeited and another winner may be chosen.
The decision is final and no correspondence shall be entered into.
By entering you agree for your name to be announced on Barbour.com, Barbour social channels and in the Barbour email newsletter.
A winner’s list may be obtained by submitting a written request to Barbour’s registered address set out below addressed to the Marketing Department.

All marketing emails sent by Barbour will include an opportunity to unsubscribe from future marketing email communication.
Entrants agree to release and hold Barbour harmless from and against any claim associated with the promotion.
Barbour reserves the right to cancel, suspend or modify the competition if any problem prevents the competition from running as planned. Barbour is not responsible for technical errors or other occurrences which prevent the competition from running as planned.
All winners are responsible for making any applicable taxation declarations within their country of residence.
These terms and conditions are governed by English law.
